CLIMATE TECH

Problem

Rising global temperature is a burning concern and continues to spiral due to fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions and toxins generated by industries and their products. Cement, steel and plastic contribute about 31% to Carbon emission and Transportation contributes about 17%.

We have one Earth which is designed to maintain a circular cycle of all the elements in it. When the circular balance is impacted, the ecological imbalance creates havoc, such as degradation of our seas, rivers and forests impacting biodiversity and wastes impacting emissions. There is a need to maintain this circularity and plan for economies which have re-cycling systems. While government action is crucial to bring long term changes, there is an immediate need for businesses to re-invent models and solutions which can address these issues

Solution

Technological innovation is a lever to climate change and early stage businesses focused on this need to be supported. Some examples are 2-3 wheeler electric vehicle and the related infrastructure, energy efficient devices and materials with low carbon dioxide emissions. Enterprises working on heating and cooling systems which are more energy efficient and reduce the overall emissions need to be supported.  Increasing the penetration of renewable energy in households and small businesses, such as solar roof-tops can make families independent and reduce electricity bills.                    Solutions which work towards building a circular economy through new materials is required. Models that help improve how we manage waste, sanitation and water are imperatives for the future of our societies

Market Segments

We have segmented the market we serve by the purpose of the business model

Emission reduction

Businesses focused on energy efficiencies and increasing the uptake of renewable energy such as devices monitoring energy usage & 2-3 wheeler electric vehicles are examples.  Materials which reduce emission, such as better concrete or concrete substitutes are the ways to a sustainable future

CIRCULAr economy

Ventures with technology to reduce air and water pollution, manage waste are examples of these. Upcycling of waste, plastic recyclers and plastic substitutes, textile waste can reduce the stress on the environment
